| Focus: Hamilton, ON | ||||||||||||||||||||||
On Thanksgiving weekend in 2009, FTC Canada and Marwan Hage of the Hamilton Tiger Cats delivered food to 1500 hurting families in the City of Hamilton, ON. Working with social service agencies in Hamilton, FTC Canada was able to identify 1500 families who were in need of a food; which we provided in the form of a complete Thanksgiving meal-in-a-box. The food box contained 3-4 days of food, approximately 25lbs. Fresh bread was also provided. Children were able to play in a "bouncy castle" and enjoy hotdogs, all provided by the Hamilton Tiger Cats. This Thanksgiving we return to “Steel Town” with the goal of feeding 1000 families. Through the strong partnership with agencies working on the front lines we can identify those most in need of food. |
According to the “Hamilton Roundtable for Poverty Reduction” close to 20% of the city’s families live below the poverty line This year 1000 families will receive a Family Food Box. The boxes are made possible by the generous donation of individuals, organizations, churches and companies in and around Hamilton. This is not the first time or the last that we will come to the assistance of families in Hamilton. We have developed partnerships with numerous distribution and procurement partners in the City of Hamilton. You or your organization or business can provide generous support to bring much needed food to Hamilton children and families throughout the year.
